Hire a Bike & Explore the Forest!
Portumna Forest Park is located just outside the town of Portumna (approx. 1.3km from Dick’s Bike Hire. There are 2 ways of getting to the forest park.
Route 1: The main road
You can access the forest park by taking the R352 (heading towards Mountshannon.) The park entrance is 1km from the town on the left-hand side. Note: This is quite a busy road and is not suited for younger cyclists.
Route 2: The forest road
You can also enter the forest park via the forest road, this entrance is located next to the marina and is a much safer route for families as the trail is for walkers and cyclists only.

Mountain Biking: There are 2 mountain bike trails; both open and flowing with gentle gradients through beautiful woodland and along the lake shores. These are ‘easy’ grade and are suitable for almost all riders. Click here to see our range of mountain and trail bikes.
Family cycling: The inner loop is 1.5kms long and with a tarred surface, it is ideal for teaching kids to cycle and for all range of bikes – toy bikes, tag-a-longs and child seats.
Leisure cycling: There is now a loop which connects to the town along forest roads with smooth and compact surfaces. Leave the car-park and follow the family friendly route bringing you down to Castle Harbour and into the town.
