Is the visitor centre open all year?

Is it safe to swim here?
Yes, once the flags are raised. Life guards are on duty from June to September 10am - 7pm.
Are there picnic tables?
Yes. There is also a free filtered water dispenser.
Are there toilet facilities?
Yes. There is also hot shower facilities.

The Swimming Area is just 5 mins cycle away from Portumna town where there is a selection of shops and cafes. Yes. There is a Petrol Station with a shop/deli counter. The Ferry Inn is also located across the bridge and serves lunch daily. (Please check their website for opening times.)
Is it far from where we collect the bikes?
It's around 6 mins (1.9km). The route along the main road is not suitable for younger children. We recommend taking the Lough Derg Blueway from the Swimming Area.

Is it far from where we collect the bikes?
No. Portumna Abbey is just 3 mins (1.3km) from Dick's Bike Hire. It is located right next to Portumna Marina.
